The JSS Centre for Management Studies on the SJCE campus has introduced a new two-year MBA course in Digital Marketing from the current term. Dr. Swaroop Simha, professor of marketing and the course coordinator, said the course would commence from October 3. The training programme and curriculum will cover various aspects covered in top business schools. Dr. Simha said the country’s digital landscape offered myriad opportunities and the marketing world had shifted to digital methods for better reach and penetration, so much so that business schools were realising the importance of offering Digital Marketing as a course. Citing various sources, she said there were about 450 million Internet users in India, but with almost a billion mobile connections it meant healthy mobile penetration and hence, businesses could no more choose to ignore their presence on digital media. The course is open to all candidates with at least a Bachelor’s degree with not less than 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST candidates and other groups as per government rules).
