About Department

          

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in 1968 .The department offers an undergraduate program in Electronics and Communication Engineering, three PG programs  namely M.Tech in  Industrial Electronics,  M.Tech in Network and Internet Engineering and  M.Tech in Automotive Electronics. In addition to these, it also offers M.Sc. Engineering by research and Ph.D. programs which provide a platform for bright graduates and postgraduates to conduct research in state-of-the-art technologies. The department is composed of well qualified teaching and technical staff with good retention. 

The Department is also a recognized centre under the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of the Government of India. The well designed curriculum lays a strong foundation in both the analytical  and technological aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering. It also provides ample opportunities to students to work on mini-projects, develop communication skills, explore internship opportunities in industry and take part in national and  international design contests like PACE, Aero-JC, cultural and sports activities etc.

The BE degree in Electronics and Communication  Engineering at SJCE, JSSSTU  is one of the most sought after programs in the state and attracts top ranking students. It has a very good placement record  and almost 100 % of the eligible students get placement in top companies with a very good package. Department also encourages students to pursue higher studies and to become entrepreneurs. The department has a very active IEEE student chapter which organises  National level  paper presentation competitions and other events such as Vacation Project Mania, Latex workshops and  mini project competitions, etc.

Apart from teaching, the department also  guides UG and PG students for getting  Internships at renowned  Industries  and premier  Institutes like IISc, IIT’s and NIT’s, organizes Industrial visits, conducts  expert lectures and workshops. The department also has special labs namely Nano Dielectric and devices lab, Visual TCAD and research lab and e-yantra lab which provides space for researchers to carry out  experimental investigations and  UG and PG students to implement project ideas.

Message From HOD

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering  is led by highly experienced Professors and supported by well qualified faculty members. The department has state-of-art class rooms and well equipped laboratories. It offers BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering, M. Tech. in three streams  and PhD programs in various specialized fields. The curriculum of both the graduate and the post graduate degree programs have been designed to meet the current industry trends.

The undergraduate program aims to prepare human resources to play a leading role in the continuing  adventure of modern automated systems and communications. The program offers numerous choices of study for the students based on interest in the current state of art technology. Apart from fundamental courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, the department facilitates the students  to study the subjects from  four streams namely, Sensors and Robotics, Signal Processing  and Control Engineering, Smart materials and microelectronics and communication and networking.

Students are at liberty to choose  subjects from these streams in higher semesters. This is reflected in various core subjects  and electives offered within the program. The master degree programs focus on research and design in the core and IT industries, product building and marketing the next generation of product development. These programs provide an opportunity to explore newer dimensions in cutting edge technologies like Electronic Circuits and Communication, Signal Processing and Computer Networks, VLSI and Embedded Systems and pursue research in interested  domains for doctoral degree.

Short Term

  1. Curriculum to be designed in tune with NEP 2020 with emphasis on innovation, skill development, product design and human values.
  2. Establishing stronger relation with industry in Automotive, Space and Semiconductor technology, organizations like ISRO, BEL, CDAC, DRDO etc
  3. Engage with eminent alumni for collaboration with industry leading to further improvement in internship and placement opportunities.
  4. Increase in the research output by encouraging research activities in core groups such as Signals & Systems, Electronics Design, Nanoelectronics, Communication & Networking. Encourage collaboration with research organizations like IISc, IITs, NIT.  
  5. Modernize existing basic laboratories essential for Undergraduate curriculum.

Long Term

  1. Offer new UG programs with the option of honors degree in Material Science, Mechatronics & IOT, Bioelectronics, VLSI & Embedded Systems (in phase manner).
