Department of Environmental Engineering had organized the celebration of “World Environment Day” – 2020 on June 5th, Friday in JSS S&TU campus, Mysuru.
Dr. K. S. Lokesh, Registrar, JSS S&TU, addressed the gathering through the online mode because of COVID-19 to students of Environmental Engineering department. In this pandemic condition, he addressed on biodiversity, its importance and how anthropogenic activities caused biodiversity decline. It becomes everybody prime importance to protect our biodiversity for our future generation. He also mentioned about how nature itself has cured from pollution during this lockdown period.
Dr. T. N. Nagabhushan, Principal & Dean-Engg. & Tech., S.J.C.E, JSS S&TU spoke about the importance of Environment day celebration and focused on Nature i.e., “The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature,” and also on Human actions, including deforestation, encroachment on wildlife habitats, intensified agriculture, and acceleration of climate change, have pushed nature beyond its limit.
Dr. D. Istalinga Murthy, Head of the department (I/C), faculty members and Mr. Malimath P. S, Estate Officer were present in the session.
Later Planted the saplings in the premises of Environmental Engineering department of the campus by the dignitaries.
Dr. Pushpa Tuppad welcomed and Mrs. Savitha ulavi thanked everyone. Mr. Chandrashekar B coordinated the function.
