IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promote women engineers and scientists and inspire girls around the world to follow their academic interests in a career in engineering and science. Women in Engineering (WIE), a wing of IEEE-SJCE is engaged in  a lot of  humanitarian as well as technical activities with the aim of   bringing equitable education outcomes to the underprivileged children.

‘PRAYAS‘-  an outreach programme initiated by IEEE SJCE WIE aimed to provide aid in basic education for underprivileged children is an endeavour that involves weekly visits by the volunteers to help children. In PRAYAS , we support the students and help them in academics, introduce fun learning techniques and aim to achieve overall development. This year IEEE SJCE WIE has taken up a reach out initiative at Rangarao memorial school for differently abled as a part of PRAYAS.Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled is a special school in Mysore.It is a free residential school for visually challenged girls from the economically weaker section of the society. The school is a part of the NR Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust promoted by NR Group. It is recognized by both state and central governments. Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled offers regular curriculum for the students up to the 10th standard. PRAYAS volunteers are given the opportunity to handle students from class1 to class 9. PRAYAS offers English learning course that involves fun and easy way of learning for children of various age groups. 25 volunteers have volunteered for 3 weeks. In the first week volunteers helped students to introduce themselves in English. In the second week emphasis was given on tenses and sentence formation The third week was celebrated as Teachers day where students made a small speech for their favorite teacher and performed in an excellent way IEEE SJCE WIE and PRAYAS volunteers are looking forward to have many more sessions where all 88 students from the school of different age group can develop basic speaking skills and enrich their knowledge.
